The 2024-2025 School Year has Arrived!

School is Back!! Trust us when we say we are excited for the new school year. But we also know, it just

means we are even busier with school sports, school concerts, dances, and other extracurricular

activities.

So....is everyone ready for school to be back in session? Here in the area, we live, our kids go back to

school on September 1st, or the Tuesday after Labor Day. So, our kids have been in school for about a

week. What has changed and how did you get ready for the changes, you may be wondering? Or maybe

you're not...either way, we're going to tell you!

First off, the beginning of August, we begin to buy school supplies (which is usually when the school puts

the new supply list online). then we gradually begin to bring bedtimes (yes, our teenagers still have a

bedtime-they need to get plenty of sleep), earlier and earlier each week. This way, the kids will start

adjusting to the earlier bedtimes. Then they also start getting up earlier. Roughly, in the second week of

August, the teenagers will receive their fall sports schedules (for practice and games). Sam's oldest

daughter has earlier morning practice for cross country. While Amber's son has afternoon practice for

tackle football. So, we have to adjust our schedules to include practices in August. So, we'll all

communicate and try to help each other out for drop off and pick up.

Next, we move on to the following weeks (closing in on the first day). We get the school supplies and the

kids will pack them into their bags to take to their schools. The week before school, they have, what we

call open house, where we meet the teachers, drop off the supplies etc. Then the weekend before school

starts, we go grocery shopping for what they want in their lunches. Our kids like to bring their own

lunches (most of the time).

Finally, the day arrives! Our kids go to bed at their school appointed bedtime and then they get up early

(typically, even earlier because they're too nervous or excited.) Then once they're all ready, we get the

traditional first day of school photo and then send them on their way!

As moms, we are always excited that they're back to school. But we're also nervous for them and sad

because it's another year that gets them closer to graduating and moving on with their lives. But we will

enjoy them and then worry about the future as it happens!

So, let us know, in the comments when y'all start school and if you have any traditions you do!
