From Pumpkins to Peppermint: Our November 1st Tradition
11/3/20252 min read
As soon as the clock strikes midnight on November 1st, something magical happens in our homes. While most people are still sorting through Halloween candy, we’re already knee-deep in garland, storage bins, and twinkling lights. It’s officially Christmas-decorating day—our favorite transition of the entire year!
The Great Seasonal Swap
Gone are the pumpkins, bats, and cozy amber tones of fall. One by one, the ghosts and gourds are tucked away, making room for Christmas villages, snowflakes, and twinkle lights. The air in our homes instantly shifts from cinnamon spice to fresh pine, peppermint, and gingerbread.
We swap out our mugs for Christmas ones, trade pumpkin candles for balsam fir, and replace orange throws with plaid blankets. Even our playlists get a makeover—from “Monster Mash” to
Michael Bublé on repeat. It’s a full sensory reset that kicks off our “Ber Month” magic in the best way possible.
Why November 1st?
For us, it’s more than just getting a head start on the holidays—it’s about stretching the joy. Life as busy moms, working women, and creators can feel like a blur, so when something brings us peace, coziness, and nostalgia... we hold onto it as long as we can.
That first day of November feels like the perfect in-between. The world slows down a bit, the air feels crisp, and we get to shift from spooky to sparkly—literally overnight.
The Scents of the Season
If you know us, you know scents are part of the vibe. Goodbye pumpkin spice, hello peppermint mocha! Out come the gingerbread candles, pine diffusers, and balsam fir wax melts that instantly transport us to a cozy cabin in the Northwoods. We even swap our hand soaps— because nothing says “new season” like washing your hands in peppermint snow!
Cozy Traditions & Christmas Kickoff
While we deck the halls, we crank up the Christmas playlist, sip hot cocoa, and sometimes sneak in our first Hallmark movie of the year. It’s a day full of laughter, messy bins, and maybe a few tangled light strings—but it’s also one that fills our hearts with joy. We may not be ready for snow just yet (okay, maybe a little), but our hearts are definitely ready for the holidays.
So if you need us on November 1st, we’ll be in full elf mode—trading slacks for sweats, sipping peppermint lattes, and making our homes glow for the season ahead.
