The Ever-Changing Date of Easter
Every year, Easter seems to sneak up on us. But did you know that the date of Easter changes from year to year? Sometimes it falls in early April, and other times it can be as late as the end of April or even in March! This variability is due to the lunar calendar, which is why we celebrate Easter on the first Sunday after the first full moon that follows the vernal equinox.
Baking Up a Storm!
This year, my April has been exceptionally busy, thanks to my love for baking. Between Easter-themed treats and goodies for special occasions, my kitchen has become a flour-dusted hub of activity! From classic carrot cakes to festive cookies shaped like bunnies and eggs, there’s something incredibly satisfying about preparing delicious foods that bring loved ones together.
Family Traditions to Cherish
Easter is all about family for us. We start our day with Easter baskets filled with sweet surprises for the kids, which they absolutely love—who doesn't enjoy indulging in jelly beans and chocolate bunnies? After that, we head to church for a special service, embracing the real meaning of the day, which centers on the resurrection of Jesus.
After the church service, we gather at my parents' house for a cozy family dinner. It’s a wonderful time to share a meal, catch up with everyone, and reminisce about our favorite Easter memories. Finally, the grand finale of the day is the Easter egg hunt! Watching the kids dash around, hunting for colorful eggs hidden in the garden, is truly a heartwarming sight.
Every family has unique traditions that make Easter special, and these are just a few of ours. While we cherish the fun and sweets, the essence of Easter for us is about love, family, and the story of Jesus—a reminder of hope and renewal.
Whether you're baking, hunting for eggs, or simply enjoying a meal with loved ones, Easter is a time to celebrate life and togetherness. What traditions do you and your family uphold during this special time of year? Let’s keep the conversation going—Happy Easter!
